First and foremost, the 1.10 patch lets you experience the first holiday in New Horizons: Bunny Day. You’ll need a Nintendo Account linked to your Switch, and you’ll also need an internet connection so you can set the game to the 1.10a status. The Nintendo JP site’s info reads:
New Horizons’ 1.10 patch introduces online components too. If you’ve got a Nintendo Switch Online account, you can go online to visit other people’s islands or invite them to yours, handy if you’re tired of the folks on your island already.
- In order to experience Easter, it is necessary to link the user with the Nintendo account and play the console in a place with Internet communication environment after the date.
Having an NSO account also gets you the chance for a special Animal Crossing-themed rug you can exchange Nook Miles for. If you don’t know what those are, check out our Animal Crossing: New Horizons recap to get up to speed.
The NookLink feature, which is basically a QR code scanner, also comes with the update and lets you create and scan codes for custom designs.
Finally, after you update the game, you get a special Nintendo Switch furniture item delivered straight to your tent (or home, if you’re very industrious early on). If you were lucky enough to get one of those limited edition New Horizons’ Switch systems, your furniture piece will reflect that.
